All volunteers receive a copy of the Connection Point newsletter. Learn what's new with RSVP, about community events, volunteering opportunities and other fun stuff.
Volunteers are recognized for their service. Besides receiving our newsletter, all volunteers are invited to the annual Recognition Dinner. Volunteers may also receive mileage and meal reimbursement, as well as suppliemental accident, personal liability and auto liability insurance.

Equal Opportunity & Accommodations
Anyone who is 55 years of age or older and lives in and is interested in volunteering in Monroe County is welcome to join RSVP. There are no membership fees or income restrictions.
No person may be excluded from membership or participation in the activities or benefits of RSVP, following federal and AmeriCorps requirements, on the basis of race, color, national origin, gender/gender identity or expression/sex, age, religion, sexual orientation, political affiliation, marital or parental status, genetic information, military service, pregnancy, nor on the basis of disability (including hearing or visual impairments), if the volunteer is a qualified individual with a disability, reprisal, nor if a complaint has been submitted. Volunteer Agencies will not harass, nor discriminate, against RSVP volunteers or in the operation of its program, following these same protections.
The Retired & Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) in partnership with our sponsor, The Monroe Center for Healthy Aging are committed to the inclusion of employees and volunteers/members with all levels of ability, following federal and AmeriCorps requirements. Anyone who feels they may need accommodation based on the impact of a disability (including hearing or visual assistance) or because of Limited English Proficiency should contact Beth Berlin, RSVP Program Director at 734-241-0408 to discuss your specific needs.
We will make reasonable accommodations to persons with known disabilities and/or who have Limited English Proficiency who are otherwise qualified for the job, unless the accommodation would impose an undue hardship on the program. A reasonable accommodation is a modification that enables a person with a disability or Limited English Proficiency to apply for a job, perform the essential functions of a job, or enjoy the same benefits and privileges of employment as other employees and volunteers/members.
The accommodation process consists mainly of open dialogue, flexibility, and creativity on all parts. Members are expected to take an active role in this process. RSVP staff reserve the right to request documentation of the need for accommodation from a treating physician. If you would like to request reasonable accommodation, please contact Beth Berlin, RSVP Program Director at 734-241-0408. Interested parties may also contact Beth for inquiries related to the compliance history of Monroe County RSVP.
Applicants and volunteers who wish to file a discrimination complaint may do so by sending an email message to eo@americorps.gov or by leaving a voice message on the Civil Rights Hotline at 1-202-606-3461. Alternate Dispute Resolution is also available via email (adr@americorps.gov).
To date, there have been no discrimination or harassment complaints made against Monroe County RSVP, our sponsor (the Monroe Center for Healthy Aging), nor any of our partner stations involving volunteers or the RSVP program. If you would like more information, please contact Beth Berlin, RSVP Program Director at 734-241-0408.
